Pokémon Gem Pack Vol. 1 is a Simplified Chinese Pokémon TCG release that launched in Mainland China on January 17, 2025. It arrived alongside the regional transition into the Scarlet & Violet series and introduced compact four-card packs in which every card is foil.
The release features artwork connected to Pokémon Horizons: The Series, including Sprigatito with Liko, Fuecoco with Roy, Quaxly with Dot, and Captain Pikachu with Friede. PokeUnlimited lists the booster box under the working name Gemstone Horizons Vol. 1. Four-Card All-Foil Pack Format
Each Gem Pack Vol. 1 booster pack contains four randomized foil cards. A sealed retail box contains 15 packs, producing 60 physical cards across the box.
The all-foil format describes the card finish; it does not mean that every card carries one of the highest rarity marks. Duplicates may occur, and a booster box does not guarantee a complete set, particular Pokémon, or specific finish.
Official Rarity Marks and Pack Structure
Gem Pack Vol. 1 uses five rarity symbols: ●, ◆, ★, ★★, and ★★★.
Each four-card pack contains three cards marked ● or ◆ and one marked ★, ★★, or ★★★. This is a pack-level configuration rather than a booster-box pull guarantee. One box is not guaranteed to contain a ★★★ card, Master Ball-pattern card, partner-art card, or other specific card.
The rarity mark should also be distinguished from a card’s foil finish. Cards can share a rarity symbol while using different patterns, stamps, or illustrations.
Foil Patterns and Card Finishes
Gem Pack Vol. 1 includes multiple treatments for the same Pokémon and, in some cases, the same underlying illustration. Confirmed finishes include Energy-type patterned foils, Poké Ball-pattern foils, Master Ball-pattern foils, Shiny Pokémon illustration foils, Gem Pack logo-stamped foils, and special Pokémon illustration foils.
The four Sprigatito images retained from the original article demonstrate this variety. They show a Master Ball-pattern treatment, geometric-pattern foil, star-pattern foil, and Gem Pack logo-stamped card. “Geometric-pattern” and “star-pattern” are visual descriptions rather than separate official rarity names.
Pokémon Horizons Partner Artwork
A major theme is artwork showing Pokémon beside characters from Pokémon Horizons: The Series. The cards displayed in the article include:
- Captain Pikachu with Friede
- Sprigatito with Liko
- Fuecoco with Roy
- Quaxly with Dot
These are Pokémon cards whose illustrations feature the characters together. The Trainer is not necessarily part of the official card name, and not every card in the release is a Pokémon Horizons partner card.
Trainer and Basic Energy Cards
The all-foil checklist extends beyond Pokémon. Confirmed Trainer cards include Poké Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Nemona.
Confirmed Basic Energy cards include Basic Grass Energy, Basic Fire Energy, and Basic Water Energy. A particular Trainer, Energy card, or finish is not guaranteed in an individual pack or box.
How Vol. 1 Began the Gem Pack Series
Pokémon Gem Pack Vol. 1 established the Simplified Chinese Gem Pack format with small all-foil packs, a five-symbol rarity system, and multiple finishes for selected cards. Later volumes introduced new featured Pokémon and artwork while continuing the foil-focused format.
Pokémon China also ran a limited launch promotion beginning January 17, 2025. Customers purchasing 30 packs, equivalent to two 15-pack boxes, could receive one promotional card while supplies lasted. This historical campaign should not be interpreted as a current PokeUnlimited inclusion.
