Japanese Pokémon 151 SV2a Reprint and Set Guide

Pokemon 151 Japanese Reprints! - PokeUnlimited

Japanese Pokémon Card 151 SV2a is an Enhanced Expansion Pack centered on the original Kanto Pokédex. This guide covers its seven-card packs, numbered checklist, patterned mirrors, and documented 2023 and 2024 inventory history.

Originally published April 18, 2024. Last updated July 16, 2026.

The Japanese Pokémon 151 reprint discussed in the original article referred to another retail inventory wave for Pokémon Card 151 SV2a during April 2024. The Enhanced Expansion Pack originally launched in Japan on June 16, 2023 and centers on the first 151 Pokémon in National Pokédex order.

This guide combines the set’s permanent product information with its documented supply history. Later inventory waves did not create a separately named edition or new checklist.

What the April 2024 Reprint or Restock Meant

The original article was published while Japanese retailers were receiving or preparing additional Pokémon Card 151 inventory. A dated April 2024 retailer re-sale notice described its allocation as a re-sale of the Enhanced Expansion Pack and used a lottery system for purchases.

That record supports another retail inventory wave. It does not establish the total number of newly manufactured boxes, one universal nationwide reprint date, or the final production run.

Pokémon had also announced a separate Pokémon Card 151 made-to-order sale through Pokémon Center Online in June 2023. The official made-to-order program and the April 2024 retailer allocation should not be presented as the same event.

Reprint, Restock, and Made-to-Order

  • Reprint: A newly manufactured production wave of an existing set.

  • Restock: Inventory becoming available again through a retailer or distributor.

  • Retail re-sale: A store offering the product again after an earlier sales period.

  • Made-to-order production: Orders accepted during a defined window for later production or allocation.

A retailer restock may come from new production, delayed allocations, redistributed inventory, or warehouse stock. More retailer inventory does not, by itself, confirm a manufacturer print quantity.

Did Later Production Waves Change the Cards?

No officially documented checklist change separates the original SV2a release from the later retail inventory wave. The product retained the Pokémon Card 151 name, SV2a set code, Japanese-language card text, numbered checklist, and card identities.

Later boxes should not be described as First Edition, Second Edition, Unlimited Edition, or a revised set unless official packaging establishes that distinction. Claims about different card stock, foil quality, color, pull rates, shrink wrap, or collation also require authoritative evidence.

The Original 151 Pokémon in Pokédex Order

Pokémon Card 151 begins with Bulbasaur and continues through Mew according to National Pokédex order. Trainer cards follow the Pokémon portion within the 165-card base checklist.

This structure supports a Pokédex-style collection, but one booster box does not contain every Kanto Pokémon. Cards are randomized, duplicates may occur, and several Pokémon appear as Pokémon ex.

Featured Pokémon ex include Venusaur ex, Charizard ex, Blastoise ex, Alakazam ex, Zapdos ex, and Mew ex. The set also includes complementary illustration sequences for the Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle evolution lines.

Base Checklist and Cards Numbered Above 165

The base checklist runs from 001/165 through 165/165. Another 45 cards continue from 166/165 through 210/165:

  • 18 AR cards

  • 16 SR cards

  • 8 SAR cards

  • 3 UR cards

Notable examples include Pikachu AR, Dragonair AR, Mew ex SAR, Charizard ex SAR, Blastoise ex SAR, Venusaur ex SAR, Zapdos ex SAR, Alakazam ex SAR, Erika’s Invitation SAR, and Giovanni’s Charisma SAR.

The final numbered card is Basic Psychic Energy 210/165. Patterned mirror versions remain visual variants of base cards and are not additional numbered checklist entries.

Poké Ball and Master Ball-Pattern Mirrors

Selected base cards can appear with patterned mirror treatments featuring Poké Ball or Master Ball designs. These finishes are separate from a card’s printed rarity.

A patterned mirror card is not automatically an AR, SAR, or Secret Rare. Specific mirror cards and patterns are randomized, and no unofficial box-level or case-level guarantee should be added to the article.

Japanese Booster-Pack and Box Configuration

Each Japanese Pokémon Card 151 pack contains seven randomized cards. A booster box contains 20 packs, producing 140 physical cards.

That total does not mean 140 different cards. One box does not guarantee a complete set, every original Pokémon, a particular Pokémon ex, an SAR, a specific mirror treatment, Mew ex, or Charizard ex.

Japanese Pokémon 151 vs. English Scarlet & Violet—151

Japanese Pokémon Card 151 SV2a and English Scarlet & Violet—151 both focus on the original Kanto Pokédex, but they are separate regional products.

The Japanese release uses SV2a branding, Japanese-language cards, seven-card packs, a 20-pack booster display, and its own numbered checklist and mirror treatments. The English expansion uses different branding, packaging, product formats, numbering, and regional distribution.
